Are you wondering what you can do to lift someone’s spirits over the holidays? Project Purple is pleased to offer these beautiful ‘Jars of Hope’ just in time for the holidays. These magnificent jars contain 100 messages which will give recipients hope during their time of need. Because a percentage of all proceeds will be donated to Project Purple, your purchase can lift a loved one’s spirits while simultaneously helping us work towards a world without pancreatic cancer.
Jars of Hope
Project Purple Executive Director, Elli, Erickson, explains how she first found the Jars of Hope. “In the last month, multiple people I know have been diagnosed with cancer. I kept thinking, ‘What is something I could do for these people to cheer them up or lift their spirits?’ They were already getting meals brought to them, and I had sent a card, but I wanted to do something different.”
As Elli brainstormed ideas, she came across these unique jars which had originally been designed with military families in mind. The woman who creates the jars was happy to make some specifically for Project Purple, in part because her husband’s business partner passed away from pancreatic cancer.
Uplifting Messages Make Great Gift for All
Each beautiful jar contains 100 positive messages designed to inspire hope. The messages are not pancreatic cancer specific and could give a much-needed lift to anyone who is going through a difficult time. Messages include phrases such as, ‘A strong person is not one who doesn’t cry. A strong person is the one who cries and sheds tears for a moment, then gets up and fights again’ and ‘Strength grows in the moments when you think you can’t go on but you keep going anyways.’ In addition, gift givers have the option of adding up to five of their own unique messages of inspiration.
The messages are designed for patients, family or friends who are caregivers, and people who have lost a loved one. Elli says, “When one person has cancer, the whole family goes through cancer. People need hope. The messages are there to help them start off their day on a positive note, knowing someone cares about them.”
The Power of Words
As a survivor of cancer, I am pleased Project Purple is offering this thoughtful and unique gift. When I was going through chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer, my oldest daughter gave me a jar filled with inspirational quotations for my birthday. I don’t remember any other gifts from my birthday that year, but her jar of quotations sits on my nightstand to this day. Words can be a powerful reminder of hope, faith and optimism to all of us as we go through difficult times. To this day, I look through those quotations when I need a lift.
