SEYMOUR, Conn., Jan. 30, 2023 – Project Purple, a national nonprofit with a mission of a world without pancreatic cancer, announced today its slate of ambassadors for 2023. These volunteers were chosen from a nationwide pool to help amplify the organization’s visibility and mission across the United States.
“Our ambassadors are the heart and soul of our organization and a valuable sounding board for the home office team,” said Dino Verrelli, founder and CEO of Project Purple. “We are selective in who we choose as these individuals are closely aligned with our brand and are an extension of our organization. In addition to being united behind Project Purple, they all have their own personal connection to pancreatic cancer and a desire to improve patients’ odds against this deadly disease.”

Ambassadors bring Project Purple to their local communities by recruiting people for the organization’s marathon and half teams for races in the U.S., Berlin and London as well as Project Purple’s four virtual physical activity events during the year. Each ambassador also commits to a fundraising minimum through at least one event. The ambassadors also help the nonprofit successfully host the annual Project Purple Charity Golf Classic fundraiser, slated this year for June 5 at Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk, Conn.
ABOUT PROJECT PURPLEFounded in 2010, Project Purple provides financial aid and hope to patients battling pancreatic cancer and funds critical research in the detection and treatment of the disease. Its primary source of funding is through peer-to-peer fundraising by individuals participating in marathons, half marathons and other physical activities. In 2022, more 15,000 individuals helped raise more than $1 million to support Project Purple’s mission of a world without pancreatic cancer. To date, Project Purple has funded nearly $3 million in research and provided more than $510,000 in financial aid to help over 1,000 patients cover medical bills, utilities and housing costs while undergoing treatment.
