Project Purple 2026 Pancreatic Cancer Research Grant Opportunities

Project Purple is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity to support innovative pancreatic cancer research studies worldwide.

Purpose: This initiative is designed to fund promising new ideas spanning the full spectrum of pancreatic cancer research. We are seeking impactful projects that can be realistically completed within a 12-month timeframe and that demonstrate a clear path toward tangible deliverables.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • This grant is open globally to any individual actively working on pancreatic cancer research.
  • Clinical research proposals should demonstrate feasibility within the proposed budget and timeline. Projects may leverage existing infrastructure, cohorts, or partially funded studies when appropriate.

Scope and Priorities:

We are open to any and all ideas related to pancreatic cancer. While the grant will be awarded to the best overall proposals, areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Early detection research (pre-clinical and/or clinical)
  • Overcoming treatment resistance (pre-clinical and/or clinical)
  • Novel therapeutics (new targets, devices, or technologies tested pre-clinically and/or clinically)
  • Biomarker research (pre-clinical and/or clinical)
  • Survivorship research (clinical)
  • Cancer prevention
  • Cachexia-related work (applicable under survivorship)
  • Targeted therapies
  • Immunotherapies
  • Computational approaches relevant to any of the topics above

Special Emphasis: Preclinical proposals should include a clear translational path describing how findings could inform future clinical testing or patient care.

Review Criteria:

  • Scientific merit
  • Innovation
  • Feasibility within 12 months
  • Translational potential and impact on pancreatic cancer
  • The environment and the investigative team

Funding, Milestones, and Duration:

  • Award Amounts: 
    • 1 award for $200,000 – Mid-Career Investigator: 6-10 years from first independent faculty or equivalent appointment.
    • 3 awards for $100,000 each – Junior Investigator: Within 5 years of first independent faculty or equivalent appointment.
  • Timeline: Funding is dedicated to a 12-month project timeframe and will be paid in full during the 2026 calendar year.
  • Contract Terms: Once awards are determined, the recipient has strictly 30 days to sign the Project Purple contract, or the award will be retracted. Only one legal review is permitted with the receiving institution.
  • Milestones & Deliverables:
    • Applications must include a comprehensive budget plan and clearly defined milestones for tracking project progress during the funding period.
    • Applications should include a Title, letter of intent and Aims Page.
    • Page limit: 5 pages, Arial font size 11 or 12, 0.5″ margins.
    • Please include a a 250-word limit Lay Abstract. Abstract is not included in the page limit.

Timeline:

  • Applications accepted through July 17, 2026
  • Official notification of reward will be provided on Sept. 1, 2026
  • Funding to be provided on Oct. 1, 2026
